J.C. Higgins Model 85 Semi-Automatic Pistol, #506342, .22 LR cal., 4'' barrel, blue finish, replacement checkered plastic two-piece grips with left side thumbrest, blade front and drift adjustable square-notch rear sight, with one 10-round blue steel magazine. Factory markings are clear. Right side is marked ''MANUFACTURE D'ARMESDES PYRENEES FSES-HENDAYE''. Top of the barrel is marked ''MADE IN FRANCE''. Pistol is in very good overall condition, retaining approx 85%-90% thinning finish, with wear at the muzzle, and scattered patches of light surface rust. Slide shows edgewear and corrosion, worse on the right side. Front strap has worn to gray. Grips are in excellent condition with sharp checkering. Action is stiff but functions. Bore is very good with areas of minor erosion and defined rifling. An interesting French pistol manufactured for retail by Sears, Roebuck & Co. under the J.C. Higgins label. Est.: $150-$250. (C&R/PPT)
